ELMO ARMY
RECREATING THE BATTLE OF THE NILE 20 or more stripped elmos
have them engaged in an all too inhuman activity... military feats -- as if they were an intellgent swarm

ELMOS NOT IN SYNCH VIDEO 0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JqvmGON0AM

RATIONALE

These toys are unpredictable and innately cannot work in synch with each other. to make them work in synch with each other -- having their movements read as highly disciplined "military movements" - and to do this having them communicate with each other creates an irony in that here you have completely dumb creations who tend to be viewed anthropomorphically as "human-like" here made to behave as high precision robots (like the rockettes) for the "war effort". In human terms, it is our unpredictability and flawed natures that are always depicted as our saving grace -- we are 'only human", but in war where lives depend upon highly synchronised robotic behavior and unquestioned obedience, it is imperative to get rid of the "human element"-- WHERE DOES IT GO?

POSSIBLE ACTIONS

milling about
alarm sounds - trumpet- call to arms
Marching in formation
Formation stance for battle
divde into two camps
attack each other
reassemble

HOLLOW IT OUT TOTALLY AND DO ARDUINO W ZIGBEE RECONNECTING WIRING TO ARDUINO PLUS SENSORS

ISSUES

REACTIVITY
sensors?
stimulated not by tickling (or by tickling) then by --- map on floor?
real terrain with obstacles?
movement among them?
light? Noise?

CONSIDER BALANCE-- w/o skin and with additional electronics

CONSIDER UNPREDICTABILITY
they all dont behave the same way at the same time

CONSIDER FLOOR SURFACE - rug, concrete, linoeleum

COMMUNICATION: Bluetooth? Xbee?

Tickle me Elmo
How it works:
"T.M.X." Elmo will tickle America's funny bone with three interactive tickle spots on his chin, tummy and toe. When kids tickle Elmo once on any of the tickle spots, he starts to laugh and slap his leg twice, then falls down into a sitting position and rocks himself back up to standing while laughing. When they tickle him a second time, he repeats the pattern even more, then sits down again and falls backwards onto his back and starts kicking his feet while laughing even harder. He then stands back up and asks to be tickled again. And on the third tickle he absolutely lets loose going through the first two patterns and then rolling over onto his tummy where he starts hitting the floor with his hand in gales of laughter, then rolling onto his back, standing up again, and ending with a deep sigh.

possibilities: So, TME has 3 switches(chin, tummy and toe). We can replace them to relays which can be used as programmable switches. When they do something, we can send signal like "turn on the switch" using wireless device and arduino. But movement and sound......
